Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services
offers residential treatment services to adolescents from throughout
Oregon. Clients reside in our co-educational 24-bed facility in Prineville
for approximately 90 to 120 days, but treatment can range from four
to six months based on ASAM Criteria. The length of time required to
complete treatment varies according to each client's individual needs
and rate of progress.
All clients receive individual and group therapy daily.
(Please see Client's
Manual for details.) Clients spend an additional 4 to 6 hours per
week studying health and life skills in school.
Our program includes on-site continuing education through
the Crook County School District. Clients attend school year-round,
Monday through Thursday.
Clients participate in sports and recreation on a daily
basis, with outings planned for Fridays.
Outdoor activities include, but are not limited to,
hiking, fishing, caving and snow skiing. Rock climbing is also available
given the availability of trained staff. During these activities, staff
always maintain a controlled setting with safety as the major focus.
Youth have the opportunity to become part of a Venture Scout group during
their stay in Residential Treatment. Eligibility for outings is based
on client's progress and length of stay.
All sports and outdoor activities are structured to
teach teamwork and leadership skills. They are ideal for youth who learn
better by seeing, touching and doing. Many of these sports teach clients
to take calculated risks and face fears, lessons which can be generalized
to other emotional and recovery goals.
Families are encouraged to participate in treatment.
Family members can visit clients and participate in a family therapy
group each Sunday. (Please see Visitation
Rules.) An after-care planning session with the recovery support
team is encouraged.
The daily routine is designed to teach self-sufficiency
and group interaction skills. Clients are expected to participate in
chores in order to learn functional life skills.

Insurance Verification
Some insurance plans cover treatment at Rimrock Trails ATS; others do
not. We work with all insurance companies to facilitate reimbursement
to you according to your benefit plan. Our state licensures and preferred
provider status allow many families to receive health insurance reimbursement
for their child's treatment in our outpatient and/or residential programs.
If you have medical insurance, there may be some reimbursement available
under your substance abuse/mental health benefits however; most plans
do not cover the full cost of treatment. It is worth checking to see
if your insurance company will cover the cost of treatment.
Please note:
1. Most insurance companies require pre-authorization
for residential care stays; because of this, you should make admission
arrangements with your insurance company before your child begins one
of our programs.
2. Clients are responsible for payment of deductibles and co-insurance
directly to Rimrock Trails ATS at the time of admission.
3. Benefit plans do not guarantee payment by your insurance company.
If plan benefit payments are denied, the client is responsible for payment.
4. Insurance companies generally respond best to their customers, so
we ask that you contact your company first to check benefits, eligibility,
and to arrange for coverage.
5. Be sure to read your insurance coverage policy before talking with
your insurance company so you are well informed.
6. Be prepared. You will usually be asked to describe your child's problem
and our program.
7. Be sure to ask for a list of the benefits available to you, the maximum
available, and any deductions for co-payment or deductible.
8. If the first representative you speak with denies you coverage, do
not give up. If you have tried discussing your request with your health
plan's customer service representative, but are not satisfied with how
your insurance matter was handled, ask to speak to: a Supervisor in
the Customer Service Department or the Manager or Director of Customer
Service or Member Services.
9. Keep track of all communications with your insurance company. Be
sure to keep detailed, written records of each conversation you have
with your insurance company representatives. Record the date the conversation
took place, the first and last names of the representative with whom
you spoke and make notes regarding any information that was provided
to you. Also, remember to keep copies of all written correspondence
that has taken place between you and your insurer.
10. After you have talked with your insurance company, they may want
to discuss your child's symptoms and diagnosis with us to make a final
determination of medical necessity. We will provide them with this information
after consulting with you and any other sources needed.
11. If you have problems in working with your insurance company or need
consultation on particular talking points, please feel free to call
us for suggestions at (888)-532-6247.
