Residential Treatment

Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services offers residential treatment services to adolescents from throughout Oregon. Clients reside in our co-educational 24-bed facility in Prineville for approximately 90 to 120 days, but treatment can range from four to six months based on ASAM Criteria. The length of time required to complete treatment varies according to each client's individual needs and rate of progress.

All clients receive individual and group therapy daily. (Please see Client's Manual for details.) Clients spend an additional 4 to 6 hours per week studying health and life skills in school.

Our program includes on-site continuing education through the Crook County School District. Clients attend school year-round, Monday through Thursday.

Clients participate in sports and recreation on a daily basis, with outings planned for Fridays.

Outdoor activities include, but are not limited to, hiking, fishing, caving and snow skiing. Rock climbing is also available given the availability of trained staff. During these activities, staff always maintain a controlled setting with safety as the major focus. Youth have the opportunity to become part of a Venture Scout group during their stay in Residential Treatment. Eligibility for outings is based on client's progress and length of stay.

All sports and outdoor activities are structured to teach teamwork and leadership skills. They are ideal for youth who learn better by seeing, touching and doing. Many of these sports teach clients to take calculated risks and face fears, lessons which can be generalized to other emotional and recovery goals.

Families are encouraged to participate in treatment. Family members can visit clients and participate in a family therapy group each Sunday. (Please see Visitation Rules.) An after-care planning session with the recovery support team is encouraged.

The daily routine is designed to teach self-sufficiency and group interaction skills. Clients are expected to participate in chores in order to learn functional life skills.
